Yann Rebecq Abstractions
Biography
Born in 1955, Yann Rebecq spent his childhood and youth in New Caledonia and the South Pacific. He began exhibiting his work in 1978, winning an international prize three years later and later exhibiting in several art galleries in France, Nouméa, the United States, Korea and China. In 2013, China bought 25 paintings from him for its museums. Some of his works are also in several public collections on five continents. At the same time, he contributes to promoting the arts throughout his career in tourism, convinced of the fundamental role of culture in the human experience and of its ability to sublimate any place in which it unfolds.
Touche artistic
A figurative and abstract painter, Yann Rebecq developed a taste for strong colors and light during his youthful travels in the Pacific, and a different way of contemplating the world and space. A pupil of Eugène Baboulène and Henri Pertus, he was moved by the works of Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Edouard Vuillard, Pierre Bonnard and Claude Monet. His own subjects – landscapes and interior scenes – are filled with light and poetry. And, according to some, a Taoist quality. A subtle colorist, the assembly of hues sometimes borders on a chosen, balanced unreality.
” If we are to compare, abstract painting is made up of pure, intense emotions, like a jazz or classical tune. And figurative painting is a luminous and colorful expression, like a poetic song.. “
